Actors Dakota Fanning, Jake Johnson and Cory Michael Smith are all set to join hands for the upcoming romantic drama scripted and helmed by Joe Swanberg. Filming is scheduled to take place in many parts of Alaska. However, plot details for the yet-to-be-titled film has not been disclosed.
Interestingly, this film marks Swanberg and Johnson's fourth collaboration after Drinking Buddies (2013), Digging for Fire (2015) and Win It All (2017).
Fanning, who recently starred in Netflix's hit series The Perfect Couple and earned her first Emmy for the miniseries Ripley, she will next team up with her sister to star in and back the The Nightingale adaptation. Up next, she has the thriller miniseries All Her Fault and Bryan Bertino’s film Vicious.
Johnson recently made his feature directorial debut with the comedic thriller Self Reliance, which he also wrote, produced, and starred in. The film premiered at SXSW and was later picked up by Hulu. Known for his roles in New Girl and Minx, he will next appear alongside Ben Stiller in Josh Greenbaum’s upcoming pickleball comedy The Dink.
Smith recently signed on to star in Jeremy Saulnier’s Halloween-set thriller October for A24. He was last seen in HBO’s Mountainhead, alongside Steve Carell, Jason Schwartzman, and Ramy Youssef, and earned praise for portraying Chevy Chase in Jason Reitman’s Saturday Night. He will next appear with Elle Fanning in Sentimental Value and also stars in A24’s upcoming film Famous with Zac Efron.
Swanberg has directed over 20 films. As an actor, he has worked with directors like Ti West (The Sacrament), Adam Wingard (You’re Next), Josephine Decker (Thou Wast Mild and Lovely), and Mickey Keating (Invader). He also co-wrote and produced Dave Franco’s directorial debut The Rental, and has produced films by Alex Ross Perry, Zach Clark, Lynn Shelton, and Dustin Guy Defa.
