Actor-producer Reese Witherspoon, who originated the role of Elle Woods in Legally Blonde (2001), shared the first look at Lexi Minetree as young Elle Woods, in Elle. Witherspoon also announced the start of production on the series.

Minetree is set to play a young Elle Woods in Elle, which is a prequel to Legally Blonde, that will follow Elle Woods as she goes through experiences that make her into the Elle Woods we know in Legally Blonde (2001).

With Minetree as Elle, June Diane Raphael and Tom Everett Scott star as Elle Woods's parents, Eva and Wyatt. Other characters of Elle are Liz, played by Gabby Policano; Miles, played by John Moskovitz; and Kimberly, played by Chandler Kinney.

Elle is created by Lauren Kittrell, who is a showrunner alongside Caroline Dries. Witherspoon is an executive producer on the show under her Hello Sunshine banner. Kittrell and Dries also serve as executive producers with Lauren Neustadter and Marc Platt. Jason Moore has directed the first two episodes.
