In the ongoing CinemaCon event happening in Las Vegas, director Timur Bekmambetov's Mercy, led by Chris Pratt, was unveiled with a trailer glimpse of the film.

The special trailer was screened at Amazon-MGM Studio's CinemaCon panel. The sci-fi thriller's glimpse has Chris Pratt playing a detective who is accused of killing his wife, interrogated strapped to a chair, and is questioned by an AI program, Mercy, and has 90 minutes to prove his innocence. If his answers fall under 92% of Mercy's "guilt threshold," he will be executed immediately.

Timur is directing the film based on the script written by Marcon van Belle of Arthur & Merlin.

The Kazakh-born Russian director made his debut with the 1994 Russian action film Peshavar Waltz, based on the Afghan war. However, his big break came with Night Watch (2004). He previously made V2. Escape from Hell in 2021.

Meanwhile, Chris Pratt is expanding his tie-up with Amazon MGM Studios after his hit action-thriller series The Terminal List, which will be getting a prequel, The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, awaiting a release later this year. Pratt was last seen in Netflix's The Electric State, which released on March 14.

Mercy will get a theatrical release on January 23, 2026.
