Actor Tia Carrere, who will next be seen in Lilo & Stitch, has been roped in for a role with Daisy Ridley and Alden Ehrenreich in the romantic-comedy The Last Resort.
The film, by Miss Congeniality director Donald Petrie, is set in the Philippines. Written by Karen McCullah of the Legally Blonde fame, The Last Resort follows Brooke (Ridley), who has to prove herself worthy of inheriting her father's successful hotel empire, going to scout for a resort location in the Philippines where she encounters Ben (Ehrenreich). Ben, a charming pilot, aids Brooke to learn about the country's beauty. Brooke is at the crossroads between the life she built for herself and the one she is starting to like now.
Carrere is set to play Reyna, a peerless boss lady who runs several resorts. The Filipina-American actor will be seen in the live-action Lilo & Stitch, which will be released in theatres on May 23.
The Last Resort will begin production next week with Asia Pacific Films backing. Ernesto, Sta. Maria Jr., and Raja Collins are producing the film with Manuel V Pangilinan serving as the executive producer.
