HBO’s Lanterns, based on the Green Lantern DC Comic, has added Nathan Fillion to the cast. He will be playing Guy Gardner in the upcoming drama series.

Nathan Fillion has a history of voicing Green Lantern characters, starting with Hal Jordan in Green Lantern: Emerald Knights (2011). He reprised the role in Justice League: Doom (2012), Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox (2013), Justice League: Throne of Atlantis (2015), The Death of Superman (2018), and Reign of the Supermen (2019). Next, Fillion will bring Guy Gardner to life in James Gunn's upcoming film Superman, hitting theatres this summer.

Lanterns also stars Kyle Chandler, Aaron Pierre, Garret Dillahunt, Kelly Macdonald, Poorna Jagannathan, Jasmine Cephas Jones, and Ulrich Thomsen.

The series is poised to be a flagship live-action series in DC's revamped slate of films and TV shows. As announced by James Gunn in 2023, this show promises a gritty, True Detective-esque take on the Green Lantern universe. At its core, Lanterns follows the investigative partnership between two iconic Lanterns: Hal Jordan (played by Kyle Chandler) and John Stewart (played by Aaron Pierre). As they delve into a dark, earth-based mystery, they'll uncover a terrifying secret that resonates throughout the DC Universe.

Notably, Lanterns is produced by HBO in conjunction with Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios. The show's creative team includes Chris Mundy as the showrunner, Damon Lindelof and Tom King as co-writers and executive producers, along with James Gunn and Peter Safran. Also executive producing is James Hawes, who will direct along with Stephen Williams, Geeta Vasant Patel and Alik Sakharov.

Fillion’s recent works include Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine and Skincare, co-starring Elisabeth Banks. He was also seen in Monsters at Work in 2024. Currently, he only has the Superman film and Lanterns in his pipeline.
