Cross trailer: A detective with a traumatic past behind a serial murderer

An iteration of James Patterson's popular detective book series, the series is created by Ben Watkins and stars Aldis Hodge as the titular character

The trailer for the upcoming Aldis Hodge-headliner, Cross, was unveiled by Prime Video on Thursday. An iteration of James Patterson's popular detective book series, the series is created by Ben Watkins. Backed by Paramount Television Studios and Skydance Television, Cross will feature Hodge as a detective and forensic psychologist.

The trailer shows Cross as an expert detective with a doctrate in psychology who is behind a masked serial killer. While his investigation takes him to unexpected places, his past -- the murder of his wife -- haunts him from time to time. 

The official description of Hodge's character, Alex Cross reads, "He is brilliant, flawed, and full of contradictions. A doting father and family man, Cross is single-minded to the point of obsession when he hunts killers. He is desperate for love, but his wife's murder has left him too damaged to receive it."

Cross also stars Isaiah Mustafa, Juanita Jennings, Alona Tal, Samantha Walkes, Caleb Elijah, Melody Hurd, Jennifer Wigmore, Eloise Mumford and Ryan Eggold. Even before the season 1 premiere, Cross has been renewed for a second season. Wes Chatham, Matthew Lillard and Jeanine Mason will be a part of the second season, with Johnny Ray Gill promoted to a series regular role.

Watkins has also served as executive producer and showrunner of Cross. Cross will premiere on Prime Video on November 14.
