DreamWorks Animation's feature The Wild Robot had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and release in the US this September. The studio has now set an India release date for the much-awaited animation film. It will release in theatres in India on October 18. Christopher Sanders, best known for How to Train Your Dragon and Lilo and Stitch, directed the film from his own screenplay. It is an adaptation of Peter Brown's book The Wild Robot.
It has a star-studded cast, including Lupita Nyong’o, Pedro Pascal, Catherine O’Hara, Bill Nighy, Kit Connor, Stephanie Hsu, Mark Hamill, Matt Berry, and Ving Rhames. The film follows ROZZUM unit 7134 after a shipwreck leaves the robot stranded on an island, making it adopt a gosling, familiarise with the harsh environment, and gradually forge connections with the inhabitants of the island. It explores themes of kindness, adaptation to change, and empathy.
Jeff Hermann produced the film for DreamWorks Animation. Raymond Zibach is the production designer, with Mary Blee as editor.
