The makers of The Boys announced earlier this year that the series would end with its fifth season. In the latest development, the makers have cast Daveed Diggs as a "series regular" actor. He joins returning actors Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and Cameron Crovetti.

The makers are yet to reveal the specifics of Diggs' character in the show. Best known for his dual roles in the Broadway musical Hamilton, Diggs recently appeared in the Snowpiercer series adaptation and the Showtime miniseries The Good Lord Bird. Diggs has also worked as a voice artist for animated shows such as Central Park, Star Trek: Prodigy, Krapopolis, Invincible, and Solar Opposites.

Based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s comic books, The Boys shows the consequences of people with superheroic powers going rogue and beginning to misuse the capabilities. In season 4, the Boys are in pursuit of exposing the truth regarding the organisation named the Seven and Vought, which manages them and conceals their dirty secrets.

Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television produced the series, with showrunner Eric Kripke's banner Kripke Enterprises, Point Grey Pictures, and Original Film.
