Netflix made the cast announcement at an Atlanta-based Geeked Week event, where it also disclosed that popular character Chopper is coming back to the series.

Production on One Piece season 2 is underway in Cape Town. Based on Eiichiro Oda's manga series, the show revolves around Godoy's character Monkey D Luffy who embarks on an adventurous trip from his village to discover a treasure that will help him be King of the Pirates. To make the discovery, he must put together his ideal crew, find a ship, search the expansive seas, outwit dangerous adversaries and outpace the Marines.

A co-production between Netflix and Tomorrow Studios, One Piece has showrunners Matt Owens and Joe Tracz serve as co-executive producers, alongside Eiichiro Oda. The makers launched the show last August and renewed it immediately afterwards.
