As Joker: Folie A Deux gears up for its release on October 4 in the US and October 2 outside the US, director Todd Phillips revealed that the film will likely not get a further sequel. Folie A Deuxis a sequel to 2019's Joker and is a musical that focusses on Joaquin Phoenix's Joker and Lady Gaga's Harley Quinn.

Speaking about the possibility of a Joker 3, Phillips said, "The last day on this one was very different because we were in New York shooting on the stairs with 8,000 paparazzi people. It was a very frustrating day, so we all wanted to get the hell out of there. But we then had this little get-together downtown at my friend's bar, and it was actually really beautiful. Joaquin and Gaga and everybody was there, and, of course, the crew. Again, you'll see the movie, and you'll go, 'Oh, I get it. The story is told.'"

Also written by Scott Silver, the film's supporting cast includes the likes of Zazie Beetz, Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lawtey. Produced by Phillips and Bradley Cooper, Joker: Folie A Deux had its world premiere at the 81st Venice International Film Festival on September 4, where it will be competing for the Golden Lion.

According to the official plotline, the film finds Arthur Fleck institutionalised at Arkham awaiting trial for his crimes as Joker. While struggling with his dual identity, Arthur not only stumbles upon true love but also finds the music that's always been inside him.
