The cast of The Running Man is growing larger by day. The latest to join the cast of the remake of the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger headliner of the same name is actor William H Macy.

The actor, known for his role in Shameless and the recent Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, joins an ensemble led by Glen Powell, which will also include Josh Brolin, Karl Glusman, Katy O’Brian, Daniel Ezra, Lee Pace, Jayme Lawson, Michael Cera and Emilia Jones.

The Running Man, directed by Edgar Wright, is based on a dystopian Stephen King novel, which King published under his Richard Bachman pseudonym in 1982. Set in a dystopic America in 2025, the action film revolves around a wrongly convicted cop getting a chance for liberation through a television game show.

Ben Richards (Powell) volunteers to participate in a deadly game show, which will see him hunted by professional killers over the course of 30 days. Should he survive, he’ll win a cash prize that will help save his sick child and lift his family out of a horrid living situation. Macy will play a man who assists Richards when he’s on the run.

Wright is also producing The Running Man with Nira Park and Simon Kinberg. Wright is known for his witty and distinctive filmmaking style, which is especially evident in his titles such as Hot Fuzz, Baby Driver, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and Shaun of the Dead.
