Jumanji 3 gets a 2026 release date

Jake Kasdan, who helmed both the instalments is also expected to return.

The Jumanji crew is officially ready to head back into the video game again. Sony Pictures has announced that the third installment in the Jumanji franchise is all set to hit theatres on December 11, 2026.

Actors Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan who starred in the first two films, are in talks to return for Jumanji 3. Jake Kasdan, who helmed both the instalments is also expected to return.

The production team consisting of Matt Tolmach, Johnson, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia and Kasdan have joined hands together again to bankroll the upcoming film. Details regarding the other cast members and the plot have been kept under wraps.

The original Jumanji, directed by Joe Johnston was released in 1995 starring Robin Williams and Kirsten Dunst. Kasdan and Johnson rebooted the franchise in 2017 titled Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. A sequel Jumanji: The Next Level was released in 2019.

While the original movie followed a group of kids who unleash a safari game into the reality of their hometown, Welcome to the Jungle focused on a group of teenage friends getting trapped inside a video game as a collection of adult avatars.
