Actor Tom Cruise and filmmaker Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu are teaming up on an upcoming film. According to a Variety report, the film is likely to go on floors next month in the UK.

It is Inarritu's maiden film in English after The Revenant, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy. The filmmaker will direct it from a screenplay he has written with his Birdman collaborators Alexander Dinelaris and Nicolas Giacobone, besides Sabina Berman. He will also produce the film alongside Cruise. The makers are yet to reveal plot details.

Sandra Hüller, John Goodman, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons, and Sophie Wilde are also part of the cast.

The feature is part of Cruise's recent agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery for the development and production of theatrical films for the studio. Cruise last collaborated with Warner Bros. Discovery on Edge of Tomorrow.

Tom Cruise's upcoming projects also include the eighth instalment in the Mission: Impossible franchise, as well as a space movie with filmmaker Doug Liman where Cruise will become "the first civilian to do a spacewalk" beyond the International Space Station.
