After landing the titular role in James Gunn's upcoming Superman film, actor David Corenswet seems to be eyeing a sports film. According to reports, Corenswet is in talks to feature in a film titled Mr Irrelevant from Skydance Sports. Reportedly, the film is based on NFL player John Tuggle, who came to be known as Mr Irrelevant after he was the last player to be picked in the final round of 1983's NFL draft. The film will tell Tuggle's inspirational tale and explore his impact on his New York Giants teammates.

Director Jonathan Levine and screenwriter Nick Santora are also attached to the project. Skydance Sports will produce the film, with Levine serving as a producer alongside Gillian Bohrer of Megamix and Santora of the banner Blackjack Films.

Corenswet’s credits include the horror film Pearl from A24 and the recent Twisters film from Universal Pictures. Gunn recently completed production on his film Superman, starring Corenswet as Clark Kent and its heroic alter ego, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, among others.
