Craig Brewer's upcoming musical drama film, Song Sung Blue, has cast Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson in lead roles.

The actors will feature as a married couple who form a Neil Diamond Tribute band in Song Sung Blue. The film, which went on floors on Monday, is produced by Focus Features and Davis Entertainment.

Song Sung Blue also stars Michael Imperioli, Fisher Stevens and Jim Belushi, alongside Ella Anderson, King Princess, Mustafa Shakir, and Hudson Hilbert Hensley. Inspired by Greg Kohs' documentary, Song Sung Blue chronicles the uplifting story of Mike and Claire Sardina, a Milwaukee couple who found success and fame performing together as 'Lightning and Thunder', borrowing the name from the 1972 Diamond song.

Focus is behind the film's development and retains global rights, with Universal Pictures International overseeing international distribution.

Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Hudson are showcasing their impressive vocal capabilities, with Jackman's 12-concert residency at Radio City Music Hall featuring an eclectic mix of show tunes and Hudson's debut album, Glorious, marking a significant musical milestone. On the work front, Jackman also has Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie in the pipeline, while Hudson has Shell and Running Point, coming up.
