Henry Cavill has signed on to headline a live-action film based on Voltron, the Japanese animation series. Rawson Marshall Thurber will direct the film, which also includes Daniel Quinn-Toye in the cast.

Voltron from World Events Productions is based on Beast King GoLion and Kikou Kantai Dairugger XV, two Japanese science-fiction series. The aforesaid production house dubbed and edited it as a syndicated series, titled Voltron: Defender of the Universe. It is centred on some pilots who are part of the Robot Lions battalion, which runs automobiles that combine to make a robot called Voltron.

However, plot information for the Cavill starrer is not known. Thurber has written the screenplay alongside Ellen Shanman.

Producers include Hidden Pictures' Todd Lieberman and World Events Productions’ Thurber and Bob Koplar, and David Hoberman of Hobie Films.

Henry Cavill's upcoming projects also include In the Grey, the Guy Ritchie film also starring Ezia Gonzalez and Jake Gyllenhaal, and Chad Stahelski’s Highlander reboot.
