Actor Halle Berry is in final negotiations to join Crime 101, Amazon MGM's upcoming thriller which boasts an ensemble cast including Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, and Barry Keoghan in leading roles. Directed by American Animals director Bart Layton who wrote the script with contributions from Peter Straughan, the film is expected to be released next year.
Crime 101 is adapted from the eponymous novella from author Don Winslow (The Border), and tells the story of a string of high-level jewel heists up and down the Pacific Coast Highway which has gone unsolved for years, mostly because the perpetrator has lived by a strict code he calls “Crime 101.” The two major characters in Crime 101 are Detective Lou Lubesnick and a lone-wolf jewel thief he is hunting down. The film is scheduled to go on floors this month.
Crime 101 is produced by Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, The Story Factory’s Shane Salerno; Raw’s Layton and Dimitri Doganis; and Derrin Schlesinger. Raw’s Joely Fether will executive produce. Hemsworth will also produce alongside producing partner Ben Grayson.
