Earlier, we reported about Glen Powell signing on to star in director JJ Abrams' yet-to-be-titled film for Warner Bros. The latest development from the project is that Sex Education and Barbie star Emma Mackey has landed a lead role in it. The existing cast also includes Jenna Ortega, which makes it a trifecta of stars.

Abrams is directing the film from his own screenplay, as well as producing it through his banner Bad Robot. The makers are yet to reveal any plot or character details. While there is speculation about it being a time travel film, the latest reports suggest that it is not the case.

According to reports, the film is set to go on floors in early 2025.

Mackey recently starred in Emily, partly based on English writer Emily Bronte. Emily earned her two nominations in the British Independent Film Awards and Best Ensemble Performance categories at the 2022 British Independent Film Awards.

Her upcoming projects also include Hot Milk, alongside Vicky Krieps and Fiona Shaw, and writer-director Jim Brooks' comedy Ella McCay.
