Taron Egerton is set to star in filmmaker Baltasar Kormakur's Netflix thriller Apex, opposite Charlize Theron. The film stars Theron as an adrenaline junkie and rock climber who discovers a threat to her life when she embarks on a journey into the wilderness. Egerton will portray a psychopathic person who stalks Theron's character.

Kormakur is directing the film from a Jeremy Robbins screenplay, which Netflix acquired as a speculative project before they brought it to Theron and the director.

Theron is also producing the film alongside Dawn Olmstead, AJ Dix, and Beth Kono through their new banner Secret Menu. Ian Bryce is also part of the producers, besides Chernin Entertainment’s Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping and David Ready.

Egerton is known for his roles in the Kingsman franchise and his portrayal of singer Elton John in Rocketman. The actor's upcoming projects also include the Netflix thriller Carry On, alongside Jason Bateman, the Apple TV+ show Firebug, and the independent thriller She Rides Shotgun.
