Marvel unveiled the latest trailer for Captain America: Brave New World at D23 Brazil fan event on Saturday. During the event, actors Anthony Mackie and Danny Ramirez who play Captain America and Falcon respectively, were there to greet fans.
The film stars Harrison Ford as US President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, who aims to recruit Captain America for an official military role following his election. However, before Wilson can make a decision, he investigates a sinister global conspiracy, eventually facing off against Ross when he transforms into the Red Hulk.
Director Julius Onah, who is best known for films like The Cloverfield Paradox, will be helming the project, based on a script by Malcom Spellman and Dalan Musson (both of whom wrote The Falcon and the Winter Soldier). Matthew Orton, who was one of the writers for Moon Knight, is also acting as an additional scriptwriter for the film.
The film also includes Ramirez as the new Falcon, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, Shira Haas as the Israeli superhero Sabra, Giancarlo Esposito as Sidewinder, Liv Tyler as Betty Ross and Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns/The Leader.
Anthony Mackie now carries the mantle of Captain America, succeeding Chris Evans' portrayal of Steve Rogers, who appeared in the previous three Captain America films and all four Avengers movies. At the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame in 2019, Steve says his goodbyes to his fellow heroes and travels back in time to live a peaceful life with Peggy Carter. Before leaving, he passes his legendary vibranium shield to Sam Wilson, who pledges to honor the legacy of the iconic hero.
