Lola Tung, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Austin Nichols, and Gabbriette have joined the cast of Sony Pictures’ much-anticipated sequel to I Know What You Did Last Summer. They will star alongside previously announced cast members Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, and Jonah Hauer-King. Freddie Prinze Jr. is set to reprise his original role, while Jennifer Love Hewitt is reportedly in talks to return. The film will be directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, with a script co-written by Robinson and Sam Lansky, based on an earlier draft by Leah McKendrick.

Neal Moritz is producing the sequel, which Sony Pictures plans to release in theatres on July 18, 2025.

The original film revolved around four friends (played by Prinze Jr., Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Ryan Phillippe) who are terrorised by a hook-wielding stalker after a tragic accident in their seaside town. Based loosely on Lois Duncan's novel, the success of the film led to the 1998 sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. A third film, I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer (2006), was a stand-alone installment with a different storyline and cast.

Lola Tung is currently filming the third season of Prime Video's popular series The Summer I Turned Pretty, based on Jenny Han’s bestselling novels.

Nicholas Alexander Chavez, known for his breakout role in Ryan Murphy’s limited series Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story, also stars in Murphy’s recent horror series Grotesquerie on FX and Hulu. He gained critical acclaim and a Daytime Emmy Award for his role on General Hospital.

Austin Nichols will appear in Tyler Perry's upcoming Netflix film The Six Triple Eight. His previous credits include The Walking Dead, Iron Orchard, Glory Road, The Day After Tomorrow, and Wimbledon.

Gabbriette, an American model and musician, will make her feature film debut with this sequel.
