Resident Evil star Milla Jovovich is set to lead Protector, an action thriller reminiscent of Taken. The film, directed by Adrian Grünberg (Rambo: Last Blood, Get the Gringo) and written by Bong-Seeb Mun, is scheduled to start production this winter in New Mexico.

The story follows Nikki, played by Jovovich, a former war hero who thought she’d left her violent past behind to live a peaceful life with her daughter, Chloe. However, Nikki awakens in an abandoned factory only to discover that Chloe has been kidnapped. To rescue her, she must dive into the city’s criminal underworld, evading both police and military forces.

Producers of Protector include Kenneth Kim, Bang-Ok Joo, and Bong-Seeb Mun for Aanaxion Studio, alongside Arianne Fraser and Delphine Perrier from Highland Film Group. Martial artist and stunt coordinator Ho-Sung Pak is also involved as a producer and will handle the film’s stunts. Highland Film Group is co-financing the project and managing global distribution rights.

Jovovich’s upcoming projects include In the Lost Lands with Dave Bautista, directed by Paul WS Anderson.
