The latest update from the makers of the upcoming folk-horror feature Black Samphire is that actors Cathy Tyson and Stephen Fry have joined the star cast.

The film will have the two starring alongside Cathy Wippell and Ishtar Currie-Wilson, who play a couple, Mari and Isla. The rest of the cast will be announced in the coming days.

The horror film, made through the lens of a queer toxic relationship, is about Mari witnessing Isla displaying strange changes after eating a plant poisoned by water pollution. Isla's changed behaviour reveals a dark truth about the village and her relationship with Mari.

Black Samphire is directed by Cat White with a screenplay from Wippell. The film, produced by Silicon Gothic with Candid Broads Productions, is currently going under pre-production with principal photography planned in early 2025. Tom Miller, James Murray, James Wallace and Stephen Fry will serve as the executive producers of the project.
