Rupert Friend to join Jurassic World's star cast

The fourth installment of the Jurassic World franchise, boasts a star cast of Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Manuel Garcia-Ruflo, gets a new addition in the form of British actor Rupert Friend.

Friend is popular for his roles in Pride & Prejudice, The Death of Stalin, At Eternity's Gate, and The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. The 42-year-old actor was seen as Mick in The American Society of Magical Negroes and played Claud and the narrator in The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Three More. Friend, whose next film Companion is releasing next year, will have a busy 2025, as the Jurassic World film is slated for a release on July 2, 2025.

According to the makers, this project will mark the beginning of a fresh storyline in the three-decade old franchise.

While the film is fourth in the Jurrasic World franchise, it is seventh including the Jurassic Park trilogy by Steven Spielberg. Jurassic World was set 22 years after the Jurassic Park events. The new trilogy took off at 2015 after Spielberg made Jurassic Park III in 2001.

The film helmed by Gareth Edwards will mark the return of screenwriter David Koeep who penned the script of Jurassic Park (1993) and its sequel Jurassic Park: The Lost World (1997).
