Jeff Bridges is set to star in the titular role of Grendel, a live-action adaptation of John Gardner’s novel of the same name. It is a monster character from the Beowulf poem, which formed the basis for the novel. Robert D Krzykowski is the writer and director of the film, which also stars Dave Bautista as Beowulf, Sam Elliott as The Dragon, Bryan Cranston as King Hrothgar, Aidan Turner as Unferth, and Thomasin McKenzie as Queen Wealhtheow. Popular record producer and recording artist T Bone Burnett also plays a role in the film as The Shaper and its original song composer.

Krzykowski adapted John Gardner’s novel 'Grendel' for the screen. Two of the film's producers, Krzykowski and Jay Glazer, bagged the rights to turn 'Grendel' into a film four years ago. The producers also include Vince Raisa and Brian Henson for The Jim Henson Company, Jon D Wagner, and Dennis Berardi.

Bridges also serves as an executive producer for the film, alongside Tamara Birkemoe, John Sayles, and Ashland Hill Media Finance's Joe Jenckes.

Bridges's last major role in a feature film came in 2018's Bad Times at the El Royale.
