A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the series that serves as a prequel to Game of Thrones, has attached filmmaker Owen Harris as its lead director, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Besides directing its first three episodes, Harris will executive produce the show. He is best known for directing the Black Mirror episodes 'San Junipero' and 'Be Right Back'. The makers have also announced that the first season of the series would have six episodes, four fewer than House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones. The prequel series, formerly called A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, is based on George RR Martin’s novel 'The Hedge Knight'.

The series takes place a hundred years before Game of Thrones and revolves around a knight named Ser Duncan the Tall (Peter Claffey) and his squire named Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell). Ira Parker and Martin himself are not only writing the show but also executive producing it. Ryan Condal, Owen Harris, Sarah Bradshaw, and Vince Gerardis are also part of the executive production team.

Harris's other directorial credits include Jordan Peele’s The Twilight Zone revival, Troy: Fall of a City, Misfits, and Secret Diary of a Call Girl. His most recent work is Mrs. Davis for Peacock.
