Michelle Yeoh is set to star in Blade Runner 2099, a limited series that serves as a sequel to the 2017 Ryan Gosling-Harrison Ford starrer Blade Runner 2049. Specifics about her role are not revealed. Philip K Dick’s sci-fi novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? formed the basis for the original Blade Runner, which Ridley Scott directed from a screenplay by Hampton Fancher and David Peoples. Production on the Amazon Prime Video series started recently in Prague.

Silka Luisa serves as showrunner and executive producer on Blade Runner 2099. Luisa is also executive producing it with Scott, Alcon Entertainment's co-founders Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove, Alcon’s President of Television Ben Roberts, Clayton Krueger and David W Zucker of Scott Free Productions, Richard Sharkey, Tom Spezialy, Cynthia Yorkin, Michael Green, Isa Dick Hackett, and Frank Giustra.

Shōgun's Jonathan van Tulleken is directing both the pilot and the second episode of the show, besides serving as executive producer with Steven Johnson.
