First look at David Corenswet as Superman out

James Gunn is the writer and director of Superman

Earlier this Monday, writer-director James Gunn of Superman released, for the first time, a poster of the titular character from his upcoming film. The poster captures David Corenswet as he casually fits the Superman boot into his left leg from inside what looks like a living room. It is a rather unique look at the superhero, otherwise known as the Man of Steel.

The poster comes days after Gunn and his team started production on Superman in Norway's Svalbard, where they shot the first scene of the film.

Formerly known as Superman Legacy, the film also stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, and Wendell Pierce as Perry White. It is not an origin story but rather one that follows Superman as he comes to terms with Krypton as his origin while growing up as Clark Kent in Kansas.

The film is scheduled for a July 11, 2025, release.
