Earlier, we reported that acclaimed filmmaker Park Chan-wook would be adapting Viet Thanh Nguye's novel, which is the same name, into a series for Max. On Friday, the makers released the film's trailer.

The Sympathizer features an ensemble cast including Hoa Xuande, Robert Downey Jr, Fred Nguyen Khan, Toan Le, Vy Le, Alan Trong, Vy Le, Ky Duyen, and Sandra Oh.

The official synopsis of the show read, "The Sympathizer is an espionage thriller and cross-culture satire about the struggles of a half-French, half-Vietnamese communist spy during the final days of the Vietnam War and his resulting exile in the United States."

Besides directing the film, Park Chan-wook also serves as the co-showrunner and executive producer.

The Sympathizer will be streaming on HBO Max from April 14 onwards
