Katy O'Brian, who shot to fame with A24's recently released Love Lies Bleeding, has joined the cast of the eighth instalment of the Mission: Impossible franchise.

It has previously learned that the eighth instalment, which was earlier titled Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part Two, will be retitled.

The Mission: Impossible films centre around the secret agent Ethan Hunt, played by Tom Cruise. The seventh instalment, directed by Christopher McQuarrie, opened in cinemas shortly before Barbenheimer's international sensation. It grossed $567,535,383 (Rs 4,714 crore) worldwide.

Written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the upcoming film is expected to feature the cast of the previous films: Ving Rhames, Henry Czerny, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Hayley Atwell, Shea Whigham, and Pom Klementieff. The new cast members include Holt McCallany, Nick Offerman, Janet McTeer, and Hannah Waddingham.
