Ryan Coogler is associated with a musical feature film containing the tracks of singer-songwriter Prince for Universal Pictures, according to The Hollywood Reporter. THR recently reported that Bryan Edward Hill is the scriptwriter for the jukebox musical, which has been in the works for the last six years now. Coogler and his wife Zinzi are producing the film with Sev Ohanian, Jody Gerson, and Troy Carter. Rebecca Cho of Proximity Media is among the executive producers.

Prince is an iconic musician known for Billboard hits such as 'When Doves Cry', 'Kiss', 'Batdance', and 'Let’s Go Crazy'. Prince's film projects include a leading role in the Albert Magnoli directorial Purple Rain, which turns 40 this July.

The involvement of Coogler in the project related to Prince first came in The InSneider newsletter. It comes shortly after the release date announcement of Coogler's next project for Warner Bros. with his Black Panther and Creed star Michael B Jordan.
