Wanted co-writer Michael Brandt still hopeful of a sequel after a 16-year delay

But Brandt added he would love to see a proper sequel to the first movie

The co-writer of 2008 hit film Wanted, Michael Brandt has opened up on why the sequel is going through an inordinate delay and has expressed hope of a sequel.

In an interview to Movie Web, Brandt revealed that he and the director Timur Bekmabetov had "different visions for what a follow-up should look like."

But Brandt added he would love to see a proper sequel to the first movie.

Wanted, loosely based on the comic book miniseries of the same name, follows an office clerk Wesley Gibson (James McAvoy) who learns his father was a part of a secret organisation of assassins called The Fraternity. In a turn of events, Gibson too eventually joins the organisation, learns the tools of the trade while fighting his anxiety.

The film also had Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman play crucial roles.
