ABC has ordered a new medical drama series from prolific producer Ryan Murphy without viewing any of its episodes. Titlted Dr. Odyssey, the show will star Joshua Jackson in the lead role, and he will also serve as an executive producer. Details about the plot or premise of Dr. Odyssey are not yet revealed, but it is reportedly a medical procedural set on a cruise ship. The series is expected to premiere in the second half of this year.

Murphy is the co-writer and executive producer of the show with Joe Baken and Jon Robin Baitz. Paris Barclay is associated with Dr. Odyssey to direct and executive produce it.

Jackson appeared in web series like Dr. Death and Fatal Attraction not so long ago. However, Dr. Odyssey is his return to network television after starring in shows like Dawson's Creek on The WB and Fringe on Fox TV.
