Warner Bros. Pictures Animation plans to develop a series of animation projects alongside Dr. Seuss Enterprises, beginning with The Cat in the Hat. Barry star Bill Hader will lend his voice to The Cat character in the animated adaptation of the book 'The Cat in the Hat' by Dr. Seuss. Hader leads a long lineup of voice actors that includes Bowen Yang, Quinta Brunson, Xochitl Gomez, Paula Pell, and Matt Berry. Dr. Seuss Enterprises and Warner Bros. Pictures Animation made the casting announcement the other day.

The plot follows The Cat as he encourages a couple of siblings while they get accustomed to living in an unfamiliar town. The children's book is considered a classic, but its screen iterations have received mixed responses. For example, the live-action film in 2003 that starred Austin Powers, who was fresh from his Austin Powers success, did not do well commercially or critically.

Erica Rivinoja and Alessandro Carloni are not only writing the film but are also directing it, while Jared Stern and Daniela Mazzucato are producing it. Hader and Dr. Seuss Enterprises' CEO Susan Brandt are executive producing the project.

The Cat in the Hat is slated for a 2026 release.
