Oscar-winning Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar is making his first English-language film, titled The Room Next Door, with Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton in the lead. Alessandro Nivola and John Turturro are the latest additions to the film's cast

With Almodóvar's El Deseo set to produce, Sony Pictures Classics will distribute The Room Next Door.

Since Parallel Mothers in 2021, which debuted in the Venice Film Festival, The Room Next Door is the first feature-length project of the filmmaker. Parallel Mothers featured Penélope Cruz and Milena Smit as single mothers who meet in a hospital room as they are about to give birth, after becoming pregnant by accident.

Meanwhile, Nivola has the Apple TV+ limited series The Big Cigar coming up, in which he plays Bert Schneider, the radical chic Hollywood film producer. The series is set to premiere on May 17. He is also set to be seen as Aleksei Sytsevitch, aka The Rhino in the Marvel feature Kraven the Hunter by JC Chandor. The film will hit theatres worldwide on August 30. Other films in his pipeline include The Brutalist and Fantasy Life.
