Last year, we reported that Russell Crowe is playing a retired detective turned private investigator in Sleeping Dogs, Adam Cooper's first film as a director. In the film, Crowe is reportedly recuperating from an Alzheimer’s procedure that encourages him to take a different approach to solving an old murder case. Recently, actor Karen Gillan said in an interview that she has joined the cast of the film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gillan plays Laura Baines in the film, a researcher in the team of Dr. Joseph Wieder (Marton Csokas) who heads a therapy thesis on memory reconsolidation.

Speaking about the role, Gillan told The Hollywood Reporter, “My interpretation of the character might not line up with everyone else’s interpretation, but I liked this idea that she was very performative. So I thought it would be fun for me to watch some YouTube videos of people that she might want to emulate and then do a little bit of an affectation.”

Gillan also shared an update on Jumanji 4, the long-awaited film in the Jumanji franchise.

When asked about the project, she said, "I haven’t heard anything about it other than the fact that we will be doing it at some point. So we’re all so enthusiastic about it. We all love working on those films, and it’s just a matter of when."
