Zooey Deschanel joins the cast of rom-com Merv

Helmed by Jessica Swale, the film is written by Dane Clark and Linsey Stewart

The upcoming Amazon MGM Studios production Merv, has signed Zooey Deschanel to be a part of the cast. The romantic comedy is set to be helmed by Jessica Swale.

Dane Clark and Linsey Stewart have written Merv, which is only the working title of the film. A dog, who suffers from depression due to the seperation of an estranged couple is the focus of the film. The couple find themselves awkwardly getting together for one Summer, as they take their paw-friend on a vacation to Florida to lift its spirit.

Matt Baer and Roma Downey are the producers of Merv.

Deschanel is popularly known for her stint in Fox's sitcom, New Girl, in which she played the lead character, Jessica Day. She was last seen in Dreamin' Wild co-starring Casey Affleck. She also had the release of Trolls Band Together, Harold and the Purple Crayon and the TV show Physical.
