Kevin Costner has revealed through a social media post that he would not return as the Dutton family head in the series Yellowstone. In the post, Costner said, "I just want to let you know that after working on Horizon: An American Saga for a year-and-a-half, doing all the things that’s required, and thinking about Yellowstone, the beloved series that I love and I know you love, I just realised that I couldn't continue Season 5b or beyond."

The revelation comes shortly after Paramount's announcement of the release date of the second part to Yellowstone Season 5. It will premiere on November 10 on Paramount+ in Canada, on November 11 in the UK, and later in the month in Brazil, Latin America, and France.

From creators Taylor Sheridan and John Linson, the show stars Costner as the head honcho of a family that controls America's single largest piece of ranch property, namely the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch. The plot centers on the constant struggle to defend their land against various threats, including land developers, an Indian reservation, and a national park.

The show also stars Kelly Reilly, Luke Grimes, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, and Gil Birmingham, among others.
