Lady in the Lake trailer: Natalie Portman's investigation of Moses Ingram's mysterious death opens a Pandora's box

Lady in the Lake, helmed by Alma Har'el, marks Portman's first foray into Television

Apple TV+ unveiled the trailer for their upcoming limited series Lady in the Lake starring Natalie Portman and Moses Ingram in lead roles. The noir thriller series is based on the novel of the same name by Laura Lippman and is all set to premiere on the streaming platform on July 19.

The trailer shows Portman as a journalist, Maddie Schwartz, who aspires to relaunch her career as an investigative journalist and takes on the murder case of Cleo Sherwood (Ingram). However, as she digs deeper, the mystery and the revelations seem to be opening a pandora's box of problems for her.

The official plotline of Lady in the Lake reads, "Maddie Schwartz (Natalie Portman) is a Jewish housewife seeking to shed a secret past and reinvent herself as an investigative journalist, and Cleo Johnson (Moses Ingram) is a mother navigating the political underbelly of Black Baltimore while struggling to provide for her family, in 1966 Baltimore. When Maddie becomes fixated on Cleo’s mystifying death, a chasm opens that puts everyone around them in danger."

Lady in the Lake marks Portman's first foray into Television. The series comes from director Alma Har'el and also stars Obi-Wan Kenobi, Noah Jupe, Mike Epps, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Josiah Cross, Byron Bowers, Y'Lan Noel, Mikey Madison, and Brett Gelman. Har’el has also co-written, directed and served as an executive producer.
