Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios are developing an animated series based on the DC Comic character Blue Beetle. Miguel Puga, known for recently helming The Casagrandes, will be the showrunner and director for the project along with Cristian Martinez who will serve as the writer.

The Blue Beetle film’s writer, Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, and director, Angel Manuel Soto, are on board as executive producers along with John Ricard and Galen Vaisman. Vaisman is set to oversee the project for DC Studios.

The series, according to reports, is set to follow the 2023 film's plot. Details regarding the cast has not been finalised yet or if any of the original cast members would be reprising their roles in the upcoming series.

Blue Beetle directed by Ángel Manuel Soto and written by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, centres around Xolo Maridueña as Reyes, a recent college graduate who is bestowed with an armor that grants him superpowers after being accidentally chosen by an ancient alien relic known as the Scarab. Adriana Barraza, Damián Alcázar, Raoul Max Trujillo, Susan Sarandon, and George Lopez form the supporting cast of the film.
