New Hunger Games film based on Suzanne Collins' upcoming book in the works

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is set to premiere on November 20, 2026.

Lionsgate has revealed that a new Hunger Games film, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping based on Suzanne Collins' new book of the same name would soon be in the making.

Earlier in the day, the author announced that her fifth book will be released next year. According to the Associated Press, the book is a prequel to the original trilogy, taking place 40 years after the events of the most recent tale, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, the film adaptation of which released last year.

Scholastic Publications will be publishing the book in print, digital and audio formats in North America and other English-speaking territories on March 18, 2025.

The makers of the film have not announced the plot details or the list of actors who would be part of the film.

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is set to premiere on November 20, 2026.
