Actors Nicola Coughlan, Nonso Anozie, and Jessica Gunning join The Magic Faraway Tree

Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy were the first to join the film's star cast

The star cast of Enid Blyton's screen adaptation The Magic Faraway Tree has expanded with the addition of Nicola Coughan, Nonso Anozie, and Jessica Gunning.

The trio will join actors Andrew Garfield (as Tim), Claire Foy (as Polly), Dustine Demri-Burns (as Saucepan Man), Mark Heap (as Mr Oom Boom Boom), Oliver Chris (as Mr Watzisname), with Lenny Henry, Michael Palin, and Simon Russell Beale playing the mystical wise men from the Land of Know-Alls. Coughlan will portray the woodland fairy Silky, Anozie as Moonface, and Gunning as Dame Washalot.

The film is produced by Pippa Harris and Nicolas Brown under Neal Street Productions, along with Danny Perkins (Elysian Film Group) and Jane Hooks, while Simon Williams, Joe Simpson and Jonathan Bross of Ashland Hill Media Finance, and Tamara Birkemoe of Palisades Park Pictures have executive produced this film.

The Magic Faraway Tree's screen adaptation has been penned by Simon Farnaby with Ben Gregor directing. The film's official plotline reads - A modern family relocates to the countryside where the children discover a magical tree with eccentric residents. They're transported to fantastical lands, rekindling their family bond through adventures.

This film was in development for several years.
