Jonah Hauer-King and Nicola Coughlan cast in Doctor Who franchise

Hauer-King has been added to the cast of the next season of Doctor Who, while Coughlan will be a part of the series' Christman Special

During the 'Into the Whoniverse' panel on Friday at San Diego Comic-Con, it was announced that Jonah Hauer-King has been added to the cast of the next season of Doctor Who. He is set to essay a character that will be part of Ruby Sunday’s story.

Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan has also joined the franchise, as she is set to star in the Doctor Who Christmas special. Her character, Joy, is described as, “a determined woman whose life is changed forever when she meets the Doctor.”

The BBC and Disney+ have announced a new 5-part Doctor Who spinoff series, The War Between The Land And The Sea, starring Russell Tovey and Gugu Mbatha-Raw alongside returning Doctor Who cast members Jemma Redgrave and Alexander Devrien.

Known for Derry Girls apart from Bridgerton, Coughlan is currently filming for The Magic Faraway Tree, an independent feature starring Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy. Hauer-King, who was last seen alongside Halle Bailey in The Little Mermaid, recently wrapped shooting the high-concept romantic comedy The Threesome.
