Filmmaker Matt Reeves, who made the 2022 superhero film The Batman starring Robert Pattinson as the titular character, mentioned that Colin Farrell will return for the sequel as Penguin. Reeves confirmed the news at the recent San Diego Comic-Con.

Apart from Pattinson and Farrell, The Batman starred Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, and Andy Serkis. There are two sequels planned, with the first one releasing on October 2, 2026, which will see Pattinson and Farrell reprise their roles.

Farrell is also reprising his role as Penguin, the right hand man of the late crime kingpin Carmine Falcone, in the namesake spin-off series that will release on HBO this September. The eight-episode series would follow the events of The Batman and bridge the gaps between Parts 1 and 2 of the film franchise.
