Paramount Pictures released the new trailer for the upcoming Transformer film, Transformers One, on Friday.

The film will be the first animated Transformers film in almost 40 years and the first ever fully CG animated Transformers film. The new trailer focuses on the origin story of Optimus Prime, going back to a time when the character had not yet become a transformer. The friendship between Optimus Prime and Megatron, who end up becoming archrivals, is shown.

A voiceover in the film says, "For thousands of years, we've been at war," indicating the future enmity between the friends-turned-foes.

The film's voice cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi, Laurence Fishburne, and Jon Hamm.

Transformers One is directed by Josh Cooley, best known for directing the 2019 film Toy Story 4. Steven Spielberg serves as an executive producer for the film, alongside Brian Goldner, Bradley J Fischer, Valerii An, and  Brian Oliver. Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Don Murphy, Tom DeSanto, Mark Vahradian, Aaron Dem, and Michael Bay are the producers of the film.

Interestingly, its first trailer was the first time that a film studio sent its trailer into outer space. The film is expected to hit screens on September 20.
