Earlier, we reported that filmmaker Francis Lawrence is set to helm the feature adaptation of Stephen King's 1979 novel, The Long Walk, which will star Cooper Hoffman and David Jonsson in lead roles. Judy Greer and Mark Hamill are the latest to join the film adaptation.
The Long Walk will also star Garrett Wareing, Tut Nyuot, Charlie Plummer, Ben Wang, Jordan Gonzalez, Joshua Odjick and Roman Griffin Davis. The screenplay for the adaptation of The Long Walk is penned by JT Mollner.
Stephen King's novel is set in the post-apocalyptic era of the United States governed by a tyrannical ruler. The ruler organises a competition in which teens are made to walk nonstop along the East Coast highway. The ones who pause for more than 90 seconds are killed, while the winner gets to take home a cash prize.
Francis Lawrence's production company, about:blank, is producing The Long Walk, with Lawrence, Roy Lee, Cameron MacConomy (Lawrence's producing partner), and Steven Schneider all serving as producers.
Last seen in Mabel, Greer recently wrapped filming for The Fisherwoman co-starring Emma Thompson. She will next feature in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever and The Fire Inside.
Hamil, on the other hand, has Mike Flanagan’s Stephen King adaptation, The Life of Chuck starring Tom Hiddleston, coming up. He is also a voice actor in The Wild Robot, the animated film also starring Lupita Nyong’o, Pedro Pascal, and Kit Connor in voice roles.
