Earlier, we reported about the live-action adaptation of a film based on Todd McFarlane’s Spawn comic book series. The latest development is that the film is titled King Spawn. Jason Blum’s production house revealed the title through an X post, alongside what appears to be the cover page of the screenplay. It is written by Matt Mixon, Malcom Spellman, and Scott Silver.

There has already been an adaptation of the Spawn comics, starring Michael Jai White, Martin Sheen, and John Leguizamo, among others. McFarlane has been planning to make another Spawn film since 2005, but he confirmed its development only in 2016, which Blumhouse made official a year later. In 2018, Jamie Foxx and Jeremy Renner were cast in the film, and while there were positive updates about it in the subsequent years, Blumhouse announced that they would approach it differently in 2020. Then, in 2023, McFarlane confirmed that Mixon, Spellman, and Silver were about to complete the screenplay, as well as that Foxx and Renner were still attached to star in the film.

Further updates about the plot, cast, and crew of the project from Blumhouse are awaited.
