The trailer for the upcoming film Lee, starring Kate Winslet in the lead role, was unveiled on Monday. The British biographical drama film is helmed by Ellen Kuras in her feature directorial debut, from a screenplay by Liz Hannah, John Collee and Marion Hume, and a story by Hume, Collee and Lem Dobbs. The film is adapted from The Lives of Lee Miller by Antony Penrose (1985).

The trailer shows Kate Winslet as Lee Miller, one of the very few female correspondents during the World War II period. As a war correspondent from Vogue, she is bent on capturing the war visually through her lens and showing the world the reality of the situation. However, that does not come without a personal price.

The official synopsis of Lee reads, "Determined to document the truth of the Nazi regime, and in spite of the odds stacked against female correspondents, the American photographer Lee Miller captured some of the most important images of World War II, for which she paid an enormous personal price."

Lee also stars Andy Samberg as Life Magazine photographer David E Scherman; Alexander Skarsgård as English Surrealist painter, photographer, poet and biographer Roland Penrose; Marion Cotillard as Solange D’Ayen, the fashion director of French Vogue and close friend of Miller; Josh O’Connor as Tony, a young journalist and Andrea Riseborough as British Vogue Editor Audrey Withers.

Produced by Kate Solomon and Kate Winslet, with Troy Lum, Andrew Mason, Marie Savare and Lauren Hantz, Lee is all set to hit theatres on September 13.
