Academy Award-winning filmmaker Emerald Fennell announced her next project earlier tonight. Fennell, who won the Best Original Screenplay Oscar for Promising Young Woman in 2021, will next adapt English author Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights, which is often regarded as one of the best-ever novels. The filmmaker announced it on X with a haunting poster featuring the lines "Be with me Always," "Take any form," and "Drive me mad," a sign of what to expect from the adaptation. She is yet to reveal any further details about the project.

Wuthering Heights tells the story of a passionate and destructive love triangle, fueled by revenge and reaching across generations. There have been many adaptations of Wuthering Heights, most recently actor-director Bryan Ferriter’s 2021 film of the same name.

Fennell’s last work as a writer-director was Saltburn. She also wrote the screenplay for the Kevin Hart starrer Lift. She is also on board the John Wick spinoff Ballerina as one of the two screenwriters.
