Charithra Chandran onboard voice cast of animated sitcom Nikhil & Jay

Chandran will be voicing the mother of the titular 7-year-old boys, Amma

Charithra Chandran has joined the voice cast animated sitcom from BBC, titled Nikhil & Jay. The series, which is based on the books of Chitra Soundar will follow the adorable family and adventures of two young Indian and British heritage brothers.

The official logline of Nikhil & Jay reads, "With both Indian and English grandparents, their life is a rich blend of customs, traditions, festivals, foods and music. Nikhil & Jay celebrates the similarities and differences with funny and relatable stories that authentically represent dual heritage British Asian children and are full of warmth, heart and humour.”

Chandran will be voicing the mother of the boys, Amma. The voice cast also comprises Shiv Senthilkumar and Sai Ganesh Nadesan for the 7-year-old brothers, Ben Harris as their father, Appa. Other supporting cast members include Janine Duvitski as Nana, Mark Benton as Grandpa Jim, Janaki Sabesh as Granny Ammamma, Ravi Swami as Grandpa Thatha, Tez Ilyas as neighbour Mr Awan and Harriet Carmichael plays family cat Max.

Nikhil & Jay will launch on BBC Kids' Service CBeebies later this year.
